Our mission is to make language & literacy universally accessible.

We share this mission with our global community of neuroscientists, speech pathologists, designers, engineers, health practitioners, principals & teachers; building & using Kinephonics® to help kids & adults find their voice.

Our mission

Our story

The foundations of the Kinephonics methodology started in 2005 when our founder Anna Gill, long time teacher & innovator in education published the widely acclaimed children’s book “Look at my mouth”.

What began as an early learning innovation soon garnered the attention of the Neuroscience field when featured as a case study in “From Brain to Mind: Using Neuroscience to Guide Change in Education” published by James E. Zull, a PhD at Case Western University - recognising a new way of learning that maps to our neurological understanding of the brain.

“The approach uses several cognitive senses (simultaneously) - sight, sound, and proprioception (feel of mouth position) and highlights the centrality of vision in human cognition - enabling students to visualise spoken symbols in a new way. It meshes well with our neurological view of learning that stresses the extensive connections between the senses.”

2016
The app based evolution of the methodology was born in 2016 with it’s first incarnation as Lipfit Phonics App in 2016 - evolving “Look at my mouth” for the digital world.

2017
Over the years working with children & adults with severe communication disorders Anna saw the applicability of the Kinephonics methodology to a broader healthcare context - treating severe communication disorders in kids & adults, and bringing hope to families across Australia. After continued research, beta testing & successful patent acquisition the Kinephonics speech learning tool & method for developing language skills was born.

2022
Today Kinephonics is on the frontier of speech learning & neuro-rehab, partnering with local communities to deliver transformative healthcare journeys through Allied Health - helping people from all over Australia find their voice - again, for the first time, young & young at heart from Sydney to Collarenebri.

“…your Kinephonics methodology is augmenting the natural neuroplasticity of the brain by enhancing connectivity... ”
